Rock climbing

Every year rock climbing in Croatia is getting more and more popular, as we are surrounded with miles and miles of limestone cliffs, ideal for rock climbing activities

If you stay in the city of Split, Omiš or nearby, it can be said that you are in rock climbing paradise. Just a few minutes drive from the city center of Split or a half hour walk, you can visit Marjan rock climbing crag, which is situated in the park forest on the west side of the city peninsula. With more than 70 rock climbing lines, from easy to very hard levels of difficulty, its an ideal place for both beginners and experts. However, since it is south orientated, on hot summer days of July and August, we prefer to take our guests on a 30 minute drive to the city of Omiš, which is situated some 25km east of Split. As Omiš is getting more and more popular for outdoor activities due to its position at the delta of the river Cetina and surrounded by canyon cliffs, it’s an ideal place for our rock climbing adventure. At this place we can choose between really easy beginners routes or more challenging ones if you are an experienced climber or just ready for a bigger challenge. In the City of Omiš, we can find nicely shaded areas for climbing as we are actually climbing in the canyon just next to the river Cetina.

After a short drive from Split along the coast, we arrive at Planovo rock climbing crag where your instructors will give a short briefing on rock climbing basics, safety, and use of equipment and provide you with harness, rock climbing shoes and a helmet. Now you are ready for your adventure!

Routes that you will climb are from 10-30 meters high, and we begin with easy ones that most people without any experience can reach the top of and then if you like, you can choose some more challenging ones. Usually we climb from 4-10 routes during our stay at the crag.

Some people can be very concerned about booking rock climbing tours as they think its a dangerous activity, or that they can fall or hurt themselves. This is not true! With us you are climbing with professional licensed guides, most of them with Himalayan climbing experience. The way we climb with guests is called “top rope”, that means that the rope you are attached is going through the anchor on the top of the route to your instructor who is belaying you, so in the case that you slip or you don’t have enough power to do some moves you will just sit in your harness and slowly go down. Quite easy!

Rock climbing is the discipline that will give you lots of fun, challenge and a great adrenaline rush!

We can organize this tour on request all around Dalmatia (Paklenica, Sibenik, Trogir, Brela, Makarska, Zadvarje, Bast, Marjan…).
