Omiš
City of Omiš is located on the estuary of Cetina, approximately 25 km southern of Split. Town is surrounded with high cliffs and sea and is known by it’s pirate history, which can very easily be noticed by the first look.Above the very town there is an old pirate fort Mirabella, built in XIII century. On the other side of the river there is a 1000 years old Romanic church of St. Petar.

Omis offers many different activities in the nature starting from walking, cycling, canoeing, free climbing, paragliding, diving, sailing and rafting. In Omis there is a big sand beach , one of the most attractive in Dalmatia.
Tradional festival
Omis is also known by it’s traditional festival of Dalmatian songs which is being held since 1967. with a purpose of cherishing cultural tradition. This is the biggest festival of this sort. If you travel down the Dalmatian coast make sure to visit this charming little town where the people are warm and friendly.
Pirates history

Swimming marathon
Omiš swimming marathon as the Open Championship of Dalmatia in the long distance swimming is one of the major sports events and by the importance of the second of its kind in Croatia (the firstis the famous Pharos Marathon). The competition was held last Saturday of July and is also the host of domestic and numerous foreign swimmers or recreational sportsmen.
Gastronomy
Omis city offers tourists a rich gastronomic offer in its restaurants and tavernsin the old part of town or in the vicinity. Be sure to walk the city and try Omiš cuisine at the restaurant “Milo”, brewery “Brguja” i “Fontana”, restaurant “Pod odrnom”. Outside Omiš great gastronomic offer in the restaurant “Aga” in Nemiri, restaurant “Ljetni San” in Ruskamenu and restaurant “Kod Mije” in Ivašnjaku, and worth a visit tavern “Kremenko” in Svinišće 7 km far away from Omiš and restaurant “Kaštel Slanica” on the 4th km canyon of river Cetina.
